There are now many online tools that are browser based that make it super easy to convert a file from one format to another. Literately just a few clicks. We are going to share more of these tools soon in upcoming blog posts.
I think that these online tools are actually a really good starting point for folks who aren’t very technical. It allows you to get comfortable and maybe even try things out before you really know what you’re doing.
For example, some of these online tools allow you to change certain parameters of the conversion. Why can’t you just try some of these settings randomly to see what it will do to your file? You have nothing to lose since these converters are free.
After you gain an understanding of what settings do what, you still have the option to download and install a full fledged conversion program that allows for a really high level of customization.
After you “graduate” to more complex software, it is worth noting that generally all conversions happen on your local computer. Most advanced software is not cloud enabled and fully runs on your computer.
If you don’t have a very powerful computer, it can take long to try things since you will need to finish for the conversion to take place before you can see the result.
If you do have a powerful computers with lots of CPU cores and maybe a powerful GPU, this is nothing you will need to worry about. Maybe your electricity bill will be a bit higher depending on how much you convert files.
